the sometimes narrow, sometimes broad strip between land and sea is a no man‘s land of yearning. not water, not soil it promises always both the one and the other. takes you to a different world. the people in this world promenade, or relax, now and then they may disappear. they are recorded in christof leistls photos – captured in an intermediate realm, timeless and present.

since the beginning they have been a great attraction: the promenades, esplanades or corniches of this world. situated by the sea they offer a lot of room to see and to be seen. the designer christof leistl captures the particular atmosphere of these places in his black and white photographs and shows tourists and natives, cool young and suntanned old people. his photographs are timeless as well, they could have been taken in the sixties, but that is why they fascinate the more.
